The Westphalian Senior High School

The school has been in existence since 1995 as a vocational school and offering programmes leading to the award of NVTI Part I and II. In response to the requirements of the new educational reforms, the school has now been restructured to offer Senior High School (SHS) programmes leading to the award of West African Examination Council’s (WASSCE). The school is currently supported by the people of Germany, especially the communities of PADERBORN, BÜNDE, and STEINHAGEN.


Westphalian Senior High School opened its doors to 89 students in January 1995. Today we teach more than 1,000 students in an envronmnt where people care and teachers go the extra mile to make the difference in the lives of the students thy teach.

Our aim is to provie our learners with a balanced education by focusing on academics in such a way that they will take their places in the communty as well-educated people.

Excellent tuition is provided by young talented and experienced professional graduate tutors.


The school has an available 57+1 passenger capacity FALCON Bus that conveys students to all functions, educational and extra curricula trips. This is complemented with other mini vans.


With support from the International Union of Westphalian Children’s Villages in Paderborn, Germany, the School has set up a scholarship fund for brilliant students who need support. This scholarship is also available to the student with the highest raw score in every terminal exam.


In view of the German collaboration, our students are exposed to international relations that allow them to develop multifaceted capabilities. The exchange programmes are in the form of pen pals, video call conferences and international workshops and forums.


The School is an accredited GLOBE School with trained GLOBE teachers and students who are recognized internationally.

The school is privileged to have a Digital Weather station. The Davis Weather Device was secured from Germany by Mrs. Anna Heyne-Mudrich, a GLOBE teacher in Germany. The weather station records data of atmospheric conditions such as rainfall, temperature, humidity, wind direction, etc. It is also used to forecast rainfall and other weather conditions.

Students are trained in the operation of the station and are engaged in exchange programmes with other GLOBE Schools all over the world. This gives our students exposure to what is happening in other parts of the World.

The school has an adjourned hospital manned by specialists. Students have the privilege of being enrolled on the Westphalian Insurance Scheme that provides free medical services for students all year round.
