Akwaaba to Westphalian Senior High School!
Message From The Headmaster
It is our hope that, as you click through the pages, this website will provide you with all the information you need and also give you an understanding into what we do here at Oyoko.
Sandwiched between the older subsidiaries of the Oyoko Project, Westphalian Senior High School is not just a progeny of a legend, but also a place of discovery and life-changing learning experiences.
On a warm day in 1984, the renowned US psychologist B.F. Skinner wrote in the New Scientist magazine that “Education is what survives when what has been learned has been forgotten”. From the modest and challenging beginnings of our school, this maxim has formed the basis of our teaching and learning philosophies.
In line with this, our curriculum has been specifically tailored, over the years, to include unique adaptations – which complements the leaner’s talents, interests, and moral upbringing – with interesting life-transforming activities. These pedagogical adaptations are currently in the form of a students’ exchange programme with sister schools in Germany, an email penpals programme and a GLOBE-certified environmental awareness partnership programme, for which we can boast of the first-ever digital weather station in the country! Our well-stocked science laboratory is a dream for every scientist and a leader in the sub-region, if not the best.
Whilst there is a lot to be proud of, there is still a long way to go. With our restructuring programme still in force, it is hoped that the school continues to strive in engaging the finest teaching talents on the market whilst perfecting their efforts with the best school management software in demand. These collective efforts are aimed at attracting the best students to engage with each other through enhanced results-oriented teaching approaches.
It is our cherished hope that, together with you, we would lay our genuine claim to our rightful status, as a model private senior high school in the country, which believes in reinforcing the individual’s learning interests so that even if s/he forgets what has been learnt what would survive would be s/his education.
As I sit here in Oyoko, and through my office windows, I can hear the fine-tuned melodies of optimism rustling through the thin veils of the horizon; so join us, as we sing along in anticipation of brighter prospects and in celebration of excellence. The future hasn’t been brighter.
Westphalian Senior High School has a pledge to excellence and aims to be an excellent school. Thus, we seek to promote within our students a positive vision for their future and help our students become balanced and successful citizens.
Our committed staff is proud of the wide range of programmes we offer to our students.
The School gives students the enabling environment for research and practical training. This gives them a competitive advantage and the confidence to function.
